Caloundra is located at the southern entrance to the Sunshine Coast, a region stretching from the cool, green of the hinterland mountains to the blue and white of the ocean and beaches. Caloundra City is only 90 kilometers north of Brisbane.

Caloundra is one of the fastest growing cities in Australia with an annual growth rate of 4%. Current population is about 90,000.

It is the second largest municipality by area (1107-square-kilometres) on the Sunshine Coast.

Caloundra City lays claim to some of Queensland’s most popular patrolled beaches as well as beautiful rainforests and numerous botanical, environmental and national parks. It also boasts attractions including Australia Zoo, Aussie World and the Ettamogah Pub.

Caloundra Beaches

Caloundra's famous beaches include Golden Beach, Bulcock Beach, Kings Beach, Dicky Beach and Currimundi Beach.

Golden Beach is known for safe water swimming, windsurfing, boating and water skiing. There are fishing jetties, boat hire, BBQ / picnic facilities and children's playgrounds.

Kings Beach offers swimming, surfing, snorkelling. BBQ and picnic facilities. It is patrolled by Council Lifeguards weekdays, and volunteers from Metropolitan Caloundra Surf Life Saving Club weekends and public holidays during summer.

Attractions

Australia Zoo which is one of Australia's most famous tourist attractions is located at Beerwah, about 20 minutes drive north of Caloundra.

Australia Zoo's Wildlife Warrior shows are held in the Animal Planet Crocoseum.
